This is a warning to all visitors to Langkawi, Malaysia. Don't ever book your stay at an apology of a hotel called Langkawi Boutique Resort. It sucks!!!!
We reached the hotel in Langkawi from the airport at 10am on 13th. Even though we made special requests for a special early check-in (atleast for 1 room), the hotel staff curtly refused and said that we would get our rooms only at 2pm.
With no help in site (the so called guide who picked us up from the airport - actually d driver of the van also could not help), we went out to visit some places and when we returned at 3pm (instead of 2pm), we were, to our surprise informed that only 2 out of the 3 rooms were ready to be released. After some stern talk we got the 3rd room at 3.30pm!
On reaching our rooms, we had some surprises:
1. There was no concierge service, hence had to carry our own bags up to the rooms (1 room was on the 3rd floor) in a building without any lift. The building is worst than a Govt Students Hostel building.....
2. There is no phone in the room.
3. There is no room service available.
4. The bathroom had a small soap and 2 tattered towels. (We went and brought our own towels from the local market).
5. There are mosquitoes in the room but no insecticide or aerosol for protection (brought that too from the market).
The drama continued on day 2, today.
1. Went for complimentary breakfast, and alas, they don't even serve eggs! Had to make do with bread toast.
Now starts the climax, left the keys at the reception at 11am asking them to clean up the rooms in our absence, however, when we returned at 5.30pm the rooms had not been cleaned. Again went out in the evening and then when we returned at 10.30pm told the manager about the rooms not being cleaned. He promised to get the same done asap and asked us to leave the keys with him and in the meantime told us to wait in one of the rooms.
When till 11.45pm we did not get any feedback, we went to check at the reception( which is a 7mins walk from the so called hotel building), and, alas there was no one there. The place was deserted and all efforts to find a soul there went in vain. We kept going to and fro from reception to the rooms hoping that we shall find someone.
Finally, we no option left, we called the local police, who were very prompt and reached in 5minutes. They got hold of a boy who said that he knows where the staff lives and will get us the keys. With this the police left saying that the boy would help us..... And it was not over (Time by now was 12.45am).
We walked back with this boy and found 2 Housekeeping guys going with all cleaning material... On checking with them, they said they were now going to clean up the rooms (God knows what they were doing since 10.30pm). When we told them that we were okay with the dirty rooms for the night and we wanted the keys to the rooms, to our horror, they informed that even they were searching for the Housekeeping Supervisor who had the keys and they could not locate him. We continued to stand on the road till 2am. Finally someone found he Housekeeping Supervisor, got the keys for the reception from him, went and opened the reception drawer and then got us our original room keys.
DONT EVER STAY AT LANGKAWI BOUTIQUE RESORT........
